Vice President Kamala Harris is receiving backlash for her Labor Day rally speech in Detroit, Michigan, with some claiming that she spoke to the audience with a new “accent.” Additionally, her accent is compared by online users to that of the well-known Looney Tunes character Foghorn Leghorn.
The Motor City event was a part of Harris’s attempts to establish a relationship with union blue-collar workers in Michigan, a key battleground state that Democrats want to retain in their column come November.
“You need to give a union member credit for the extended workweek. You had better give a union member credit for their sick day. You should give a union member credit for their paid time off. Harris said, “You better give a union member credit for vacation time.” A distinct change in her accent was detected by several listeners at this section of her speech, and it rapidly became a topic of discussion on social media.
MAGA backers respond, trolling Harris
Former President Trump’s senior adviser Stephen Miller chimed in, stating, “This is her seventh new accent in four weeks.” This is an accent she has never used before, literally. She was raised in Canada. The most phony politician in history.
Johnny MAGA bemoaned the Vice President’s “cringe and fake” and made fun of Harris’s “Detroit speak.”

As the podcast presenter and lecturer Gad Saad was finishing up, he said, “There are countless traits that I despise in humans, few as much as inauthenticity.” Republican strategist Matt Whitlock then added, “To Kamala Harris, all of politics is a performance.” Similar to how she changes political personalities and policy ideas, she also modifies false accents. In a video released by the Trump campaign, Harris is heard saying to a rally attendee, “Let’s just get through the next 64 days, how about that?” before laughing aloud.
Harris has faced criticism before for adopting what some saw as a false Southern accent during an Atlanta rally in July. The vice president also faced criticism for adopting a “French accent” after visiting a COVID-19 lab in France on a trip there in 2021.
