US President Donald Trump has announced that Elon Musk will lead the ‘Department of Government Efficiency’
The ‘Department of Government Efficiency’ would be headed by Elon Musk, as US President-elect Donald Trump stated. Trump made reference to this role throughout his campaign. Musk and Indian-American businessman Vivek Ramaswamy will lead the division.
“Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies – Essential to the ‘Save America’ Movement,” Trump said in a statement.
“I look forward to Elon and Vivek making changes to the Federal Bureaucracy with an eye on efficiency and, at the same time, making life better for all Americans,” he said.
The “massive waste and fraud” in the government will be eliminated, Trump claims.
Last week, Donald Trump defeated Democratic opponent Kamala Harris by 69 electoral votes to win the presidency.
Trump referred to Musk as a “amazing and super genius guy” in his victory address. He said that he campaigned with the billionaire for two weeks in Philadelphia and Pennsylvania.
“Elon is a new star; a star is born.” He is a wonderful man. Tonight, we were seated together. He campaigned for two weeks in Philadelphia and several locations around Pennsylvania, Trump informed his fans.
Musk, a fervent Trump supporter, played a significant role in the Republican presidential campaign. Using his social media platform X (previously Twitter), the Tesla CEO actively campaigned for Trump and contributed more than $100 million to his reelection campaign.
Trump further cemented Musk’s inclusion in his administration on November 9 when he allegedly invited him to participate in a conversation with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky. Zelensky thanked Musk for the Starlinks, and the two spoke briefly, but the primary chat was with Trump, according to a Ukrainian official who spoke to news agency AFP.
