US attack on Israel: US preparing for ‘significant’ Iranian attack on Israel
US attack on Israel: The Middle East is growing tense. Israel and America prepare for a possible ‘important’ Iranian assault. This comes alongside revitalized efforts to achieve peace in Gaza as conditions worsen. Peace negotiations are urgently needed. Mediators want Israel and Hamas to talk again. But, recent assassinations of key Hezbollah and Hamas leaders threaten the peace process.
Iran and its buddy, Hezbollah, promise to hit back, adding to the rush for diplomatic solutions. A serious Iranian attack on Israel might happen within the week. In a world fraught with turmoil and geopolitical bouts, the U.S. issues a serious warning. It expects a potential attack as soon as ‘this week’. The U.S. has responded strongly. More military are stationed in the area, a show of strength designed to discourage Iran and reduce stress as per ABC News.
“We share Israeli concerns about the possible timing of an attack this week,” uttered John Kirby from the National Security Council on Monday. This caution follows a chat between President Joe Biden and leaders from the UK, France, Germany, and Italy. The goal is to cool down the Middle East. “We need to ready ourselves for possible large-scale attacks,” Kirby warned.
The U.S. is working with European allies to counter reports of Iran planning to send lots of ballistic missiles to Russia. Recent events in the Middle East might create problems for the advanced ceasefire talks. Hezbollah and Hamas lost two key characters. Hezbollah leader Fouad Shukr was killed in Beirut. Senior Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was taken out in Tehran.
Israel admits to killing Shukr but won’t confirm it was behind Haniyeh’s assassination. Iran blames Israel anyway. An Iranian attack on Israel could disrupt nearly concluded peace negotiations. An increase in Middle East tensions threatens the peace process. People fear Iran might retaliate against Israel, echoing its actions in mid-April.
The White House issued a joint statement, “We urged Iran to stop its threats of a military attack against Israel and discussed the grave implications for regional security if such an attack does occur.” Kirby said it’s hard to predict how Iran might react. After Haniyeh’s assassination, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei vowed that Haniyeh’s death would be avenged.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps pledged to exact ‘blood vengeance’. The U.S. is ready, quietly increasing military strength in the area to support Israel. They’ve openly sent another team of Air Force F-22s and Navy F/A-18s to a land-based location and dispatched more destroyers, including the Lincoln, to the area.
Signs suggest Iran might not launch an attack if a ceasefire agreement is reached in Gaza. However, Iran’s UN representatives mentioned on Saturday that Tehran’s response to Haniyeh’s death is separate from the Gaza ceasefire.
