UAE search and rescue team for Myanmar mission officially welcomed
Abu Dhabi: Following their humanitarian mission in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar following the recent terrible earthquake, the UAE search and rescue team was formally welcomed home.

Brigadier Salem Abdullah bin Barrak Al Dhaheri, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, greeted the team and commended the valiant efforts of the UAE Search and Rescue Team Commander, Colonel Muzaffar Mohammed Al Ameri.
Al Dhaheri praised the team’s professionalism, saying it demonstrates the UAE’s steadfast adherence to humanitarian principles and the leadership’s continuous efforts to aid people in need globally.
At a formal goodbye ceremony at Yangon International Airport, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein praised the crew. He sent his sincere appreciation to the UAE for its prompt action and efficient humanitarian assistance, which prevented fatalities and lessened the suffering of those impacted. He commended the team’s professionalism and the important contribution it made to global relief efforts.
In collaboration with Myanmar authorities and international teams, the UAE Search and Rescue Team, acting on behalf of the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, the General Command of Abu Dhabi Police, the National Guard, and the Joint Operations Command, carried out search and rescue operations at six earthquake-affected locations. Under President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s direction, the mission was executed, reaffirming the UAE’s values of solidarity and prompt crisis response across the globe.
After all emergency response and rescue activities were completed, the mission came to an end, demonstrating the team’s high level of preparedness and reinforcing its position as one of the top rescue teams in the world. The UAE’s steadfast dedication to helping catastrophe victims, no matter where they may be, is a reflection of its ongoing, cross-border humanitarian effort.
