UAE hosts international forum to develop national industries
Abu Dhabi: “Developing National Industry, Protecting Consumer Rights, and Combating Commercial Fraud” is the title of an international symposium organized by the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department. The forum’s objectives were to draw attention to legislative tools and legal frameworks that boost regional business, safeguard consumers against deception, and assist the national economy.

The department’s dedication to consumer protection and economic sustainability is reflected in the forum. Additionally, it supports initiatives to create a cutting-edge legal system that tackles problems and offers creative answers, enhancing Abu Dhabi’s attractiveness to investors and worldwide competitiveness.
The function of national laws as a complete legal framework supporting sustainable development was the main topic of discussion. In particular, Federal Decree-Law No. 42 of 2023 on Combating Commercial Fraud and Federal Law No. 15 of 2020 on Consumer Protection were discussed.
The symposium, which was attended by more than 300 legal professionals and specialists, emphasized how crucial it is to match international accords with domestic laws in order to provide complete consumer protection. In order to control markets, stop unlawful activity, enforce administrative and criminal sanctions, and support domestic businesses, it investigated the role of judicial supervision.
The use of artificial intelligence and digital technology to monitor fake goods, guarantee adherence to environmental and health regulations, and strengthen global collaboration in the fight against commercial fraud were among the main subjects covered.
In order to better detect counterfeit products, participants suggested strengthening administrative penalties for offenders, setting up specialized quality control facilities, using digital supply chain monitoring tools, and extending consumer awareness initiatives.
