UAE continues to play leading role in international humanitarian efforts
Abu Dhabi: The UAE reaffirmed its commitment to fostering the spirit of global solidarity and collaboration in all of its manifestations in 2024, continuing to take the lead in worldwide humanitarian initiatives.
The UAE’s approach, which commemorated the 53rd anniversary of Eid Al Etihad on December 2, has made the ideals of generosity and humanitarian solidarity a defining characteristic.
AED360 billion (US$98 billion) in foreign aid was provided by the UAE since its founding in 1971. This aid has had a major impact on lowering poverty, lessening the effects of crises and disasters, fostering social and economic development, and advancing global stability and peace.
The UAE’s commitment to providing aid that has a significant impact on communities and people’s lives in order to promote sustainable development, growth, security, and stability was highlighted by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s announcement of the AED20 billion Erth Zayed Philanthropies. This commitment is centered on enhancing people’s lives globally, guaranteeing welfare, empowering people, and persistently working to promote community stability, security, and prosperity.
His Majesty The Mothers’ Endowment campaign was started by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai. Its goal is to honor mothers in the United Arab Emirates by creating an endowment fund of AED 1 billion that will sustainably support the education of millions of people worldwide.
The program, which takes place throughout the holy month of Ramadan, is based on the fundamental idea that women serve as their children’s first educators. They give generations with the fundamental information they need to succeed in life. On behalf of all moms in the United Arab Emirates, the fund will serve as a continuing charitable endeavor.
H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, reaffirmed the UAE’s continued commitment to advancing sustainable development, peace, and prosperity at the regional and global levels by announcing that the UAE would provide US$100 million through the UAE Aid Agency to help fight hunger and poverty globally in support of the Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty’s mission.
The Global Institute for Disease Elimination (GLIDE) has received its second donation since its founding in 2019: AED55 million from Reaching the Last Mile, a portfolio of global health initiatives supported by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s generosity.

In relation to Sudan, the United Arab Emirates announced in September humanitarian initiatives totaling US$10.25 million for the United Nations in Chad to help women impacted by the crisis in Sudan, and on April 17th, the UAE committed US$100 million to support humanitarian operations in Sudan and its neighboring countries.
The second phase of the Lives and Livelihoods Fund 2.0 (LLF 2.0), a significant multi-donor development project that helps the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) member nations create sustainable paths to help millions of people escape poverty, has received a US$50 million commitment from the UAE.
The United Arab Emirates maintained its humanitarian footprint around the globe by providing aid and support to victims of natural catastrophes that struck several nations. Many nations worldwide, including Burkina Faso, Brazil, the Philippines, Ethiopia, Kenya, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mauritania, Nigeria, Nepal, South Africa, Ivory Coast, and Cameroon, received assistance from the UAE in this regard.
