Trump nominates renowned American athlete and businessman Herschel Walker as US Ambassador to the Bahamas

Herschel Walker is a well-known American businessman and athlete who was nominated by US President-elect Donald Trump to serve as the US ambassador to the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.

Walker is the co-chair of the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition, a former Heisman Trophy winner, and a legendary player in the National Football League (NFL).

Trump wrote, “I am pleased to nominate Herschel Walker as United States Ambassador to the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.”

For many years, Herschel has been an ambassador to athletes both domestically and beyond, as well as to our country’s youngsters and military personnel. A former Heisman Trophy winner, NFL great, philanthropist, and prosperous businessman, Herschel has been a steadfast supporter of child sports. He was Co-Chair of the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition during my First Term.

By visiting more than 400 military locations worldwide, Herschel has helped to dispel the stigma associated with mental health. As a member of the US bobsled team, he competed for the United States in the 1992 Winter Olympics,” the statement said.

“Herschel, congratulations! Because we know you will always put America first, you will make Georgia and our whole country proud,” the statement said.

The most well-known of them is Herschel Walker, who excelled as a running back at the University of Georgia and won the Heisman Trophy in 1982. Prior to joining the NFL, where he began with the Dallas Cowboys, he played professional football for three years (1983–1985) with the New Jersey Generals of the US Football League.

Walker said in 2007 that he will start a mixed martial arts career, with his first professional bout scheduled for 2010. A highlight of his otherwise outstanding athletic and sporting career was his performance in the US Olympic bobsled.
