The follow-up to the blockbuster film ‘Wicked’ officially gets a new title ahead of its 2025 release

Before its 2025 release, the much awaited sequel to the popular movie “Wicked” has been given a new title.
‘Wicked: For Good’ will be the official title of the second installment, Universal Pictures confirmed on social media.

This new name is an important step as fans’ enthusiasm and high hopes for the film version of the popular Broadway musical continue to grow.

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo play the classic parts of Glinda the Good Witch and Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, respectively, in the Jon M. Chu-directed movie.

Following the phenomenal success of its predecessor, “Wicked: For Good” will be released in theaters on November 21, 2025.

Based on Gregory Maguire’s 1995 book “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West,” the Wicked franchise provides a new look at the beloved characters from “The Wizard of Oz,” delving into their lives before to Dorothy’s arrival in Oz.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “For Good” is a reference to the well-known duet between Glinda and Elphaba from the musical, which was composed by Stephen Schwartz.

In addition to Grande and Erivo, ‘Wicked: For Good’ stars Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, Bowen Yang, Peter Dinklage, Jonathan Bailey, and Ethan Slater.
