According to reports, the driver, Matthew Alan Livelsberger, shot himself in the head before the explosion that left seven others injured.

According to CNN, Livelsberger was on leave while serving with the 10th Special Forces Group in Germany.

At a press conference on Thursday (local time), Las Vegas Sheriff Kevin McMahill revealed that the driver had shot himself in the head before the explosion. Officials McMahill and others only called the driver the “subject” and “person of interest,” but at the press conference, they displayed a picture of Livelsberger and provided his name.

“I will not come back until I have the confirmation through DNA or medical records that this is indeed, in fact, the subject inside of the vehicle,” McMahill said.

Livelsberger was on leave when he passed away, according to a statement released by the US Army on Thursday. However, it did not mention that he was killed in the Vegas explosion. The US Special Forces, sometimes referred to as the “Green Berets,” present themselves as a superior combat unit that specializes in unorthodox tactics and guerrilla warfare overseas.

According to the LA Times, Livelsberger acted alone, and the reason for it is being looked into.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, had earlier claimed that the Cybertruck contained the explosion and aimed it skyward, proving that the “evil knuckleheads” had chosen the incorrect vehicle to target.

“For a terrorist strike, the nefarious jerks chose the wrong vehicle. In fact, the Cybertruck steered the blast upward and controlled the explosion. Elon Musk said on X, “Not even the lobby’s glass doors were broken.”

Speaking about the potential link between the Las Vegas Cybertruck explosion and the New Orleans assault, US President Joe Biden said that although the investigation is ongoing, no proof of a connection has been discovered as of yet.
