According to Taipei Times on Monday, US Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent said he was certain China would not strike against Taiwan under President Donald Trump.

China has not ruled out the use of military force to impose authority over Taiwan since it sees it as a part of its territory. Wang Yi, the foreign minister of China, said last Thursday that “China will achieve reunification with Taiwan, and this is inevitable.”

In an interview, Bessent was asked whether he thought Chinese President Xi Jinping would do anything about Taiwan, according to Taipei Times. He said, “I follow President Trump’s lead, and he is confident that President Xi will not make that move during his presidency.”
