Russian Telegram channels report that Ukrainian drones have set fire to an oil storage near Rostov, Russia
Russia: Several oil tanks at the Glubokinskaya oil storage in the Rostov area of Russia caught fire due to drone strikes from Ukraine, according to reports on Wednesday from several Russian Telegram groups.
Governor of Rostov Vasily Golubev claimed in a Telegram message that four drones fired from Ukraine were shot down over the area, but he did not address the assault on an oil station.
According to the Baza Telegram channel, which is associated with Russia’s security services, two drones crashed into the oil depot’s property, causing three tanks to catch fire.
The claims could not be independently confirmed by Reuters. Ukraine did not immediately respond.
About ten days after the depot was hit, tanks at another Rostov’s oil depot in the Proletarsk neighborhood were still on fire when the incident occurred, according to Russian Telegram channels.
In a related development, the governor of the Ukrainian border region of Voronezh, Alexander Gusev, said that a fire “near explosive objects” was started by debris from a drone that had been fired from Ukraine over the territory. Gusev went on to say that there was no explosion.
According to Gusev on Telegram, the fire has now been put out, and people from the two communities that were temporarily evacuated are making their way back to their homes.
Russian authorities often withhold information about the whole scope of the harm caused by Ukrainian assaults.
In the 30-month conflict that Russia started by launching a full-scale attack on its smaller neighbor, both sides deny intentionally killing civilians. According to Kyiv, the goal of its airstrikes is to damage military, energy, and transportation infrastructure that is essential to Moscow’s broader war effort.
