Republican presidential staffers endorse Kamala Harris over Donald Trump
Washington: The Republican Party has given Donald Trump a shock. In an open letter, over 200 Republicans who formerly worked for former US President George W. Bush supported Kamala Harris for the presidency over their own party’s nominee, Donald Trump.
This occurs several weeks before the early November US presidential election.
A number of Republican leaders, including a few former aides to George H.W. Bush, have reportedly backed Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris and urged “moderate Republicans and conservative independents” to do the same. This information was reported by Fox News.
That being said, this is not the first time it has occurred. The same organization had opposed Donald Trump in the most recent US election, which was conducted in 2020.
“A group of former Republicans, including President George W. Bush, the late Senator John McCain, and Governor Mitt Romney, warned other Republicans that re-electing President Trump would be disastrous for the country four years ago. The letter, which was released on Monday by US news outlet USA Today, claimed, “In those declarations we stated the plain truth, each predicting that another four years of a Trump presidency would irreparably damage our beloved democracy.”
“We reunite today, joined by new George HW Bush alumni, to reinforce our 2020 statements and, for the first time, jointly declare that we’re voting for Vice President Kamala Harris and Gov Tim Walz this November,” said the letter.
Although the Republican leaders acknowledged that they had serious policy differences with Kamala Harris, they emphasized that the alternative is not feasible. Of course, Vice President Harris and Governor Walz and I have many sincere ideological differences. That is anticipated. But the alternative is just not feasible,” the letter said.
