Rana Sanaullah, political affairs adviser to Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, said this
According to Rana Sanaullah, advisor on political affairs to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan, cabinet members do not all agree on the ban on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, according to Geo News.
The lawmaker made the comment after the Balochistan Assembly, according to Geo News, passed a resolution on Thursday calling for the party headed by Imran Khan to be banned due to recent “violence” during its protest march on November 26.
The resolution said that the PTI’s “anarchist agenda” has impacted the nation’s system and all areas, including the judiciary, media, and economy. “Once again, it [the former ruling party] is carrying out violent actions,” the resolution said.
“The federal cabinet heard this issue (the PTI ban) yesterday. Sanaullah was cited by Geo News as stating, “The cabinet members discussed the issue but were unable to come to a consensus.” There were differing views on the matter. Nevertheless, the members agreed to continue deliberating on the issue.
According to Sanaullah, the Balochistan Assembly voiced their thoughts on the PTI prohibition proposal.
According to Geo News, the Secretariat of the Punjab Assembly received a motion calling for the PTI to be banned.
Senior PTI leader Raoof Hasan said that a party ban “is not as simple as it seems” in response to persistent rumors that the party would be banned. Additionally, he informed Geo News that the party will pursue legal action to challenge the decision if any action was taken to enforce a ban.
“There is an opinion that governor’s rule could be imposed in the PTI-ruled province, as the Constitution provides a mechanism for it,” he said. “However, the current situation does not warrant such a measure,” he said, citing constitutional and political issues with the governor’s control.
Speaking about the latest PTI protest, Sanaullah said that the demonstrators were armed and that the visit to Islamabad was not part of a’peaceful rally’.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf called the assault of Pakistani troops against PTI protestors earlier Wednesday a “massacre… under the brutal, fascist military regime.”
Four security guards and two PTI supporters were killed Tuesday as the rallies by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf party, which is calling for the release of its leader Imran Khan, became violent, according to the Dawn.
