President Donald Trump nominates Mark Burnett as the country’s special envoy to the United Kingdom

Mark Burnett has been named the United States’ Special Envoy to the United Kingdom by President-elect Donald Trump. The new president made the announcement on Truth Social.

Trump said that Burnett contributes “a unique blend of diplomatic acumen and international recognition” to the crucial position in a post on Truth Social.

He said that Burnett will seek to strengthen US-UK diplomatic connections, emphasizing areas of shared interest including investment, commerce, and cultural interactions.

“It gives me great pleasure to designate Mark Burnett as Special Envoy to the United Kingdom,” he said in his post. Mark brings to this crucial position a special combination of diplomatic savvy and global recognition from his illustrious career in television production and business.

Some of the largest television programs in history, such as “Survivor,” “Shark Tank,” “The Voice,” and, most famously, “The Apprentice,” were created and produced by Mark. “He has won 13 Emmy Awards and was the former Chairman of MGM,” the statement said.

“Mark will work to enhance diplomatic relations, focusing on areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment opportunities, and cultural exchanges” , the announcement said.

Mark Burnett’s nomination is President-elect Donald Trump’s third recent diplomatic appointment.

Trump has previously proposed Herschel Walker, a well-known American businessman and athlete, to be the US ambassador to the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.

Walker is the co-chair of the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition, a former Heisman Trophy winner, and a legendary player in the National Football League (NFL).

According to Al Jazeera, Trump announced his choice for the US Ambassador to China in early December: former Senator David Perdue of Georgia.

“As a Fortune 500 CEO with 40 years of international business experience and a US Senate seat under his belt, David offers invaluable experience to strengthen our ties with China. Trump said in a post on his social media site Truth Social that he has spent a large portion of his career working in Asia and China and living in Singapore and Hong Kong.

“He will be instrumental in implementing my strategy to maintain peace in the region and a productive working relationship with China’s leaders,” Trump told Al Jazeera.
