Pakistan’s Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar criticized PTI
Islamabad: According to ARY News, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, blasted the opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday for creating a false narrative about alleged shooting at demonstrators during the rally on November 26.
In a televised speech, Tarar accused the opposition party of deceiving the people with false information and made-up claims, and he challenged the PTI to provide proof that police had fired at their demonstrators during the demonstration.
The minister reiterated the government’s position, claiming that no PTI demonstrators in Islamabad had been shot at by police. Law enforcement personnel are not seen shooting demonstrators directly in any of the videos. He was reported by ARY News as saying, “They [PTI protesters] have all kinds of videos, but there is no video evidence of [direct firing] as this never happened.”
According to ARY News, Tarar also cited a widely shared video of a guy who claimed to have been shot and said that there was no apparent gunshot hole on his hand when the bandage was taken off.
Tarar disputed PTI’s assertions that hundreds of people died during the demonstration, saying the party was not allowed to display the remains of the purported victims. He also pointed out that the bodies had only been discovered on social media sites like Facebook, X, WhatsApp, and TikTok.
Barrister Gohar Ali Khan’s statement from the PTI, in which he acknowledged 12 fatalities and pointed out that PTI officials had not offered condolences for the four Rangers and one police officer slain during the November 26 demonstration, was also brought up by the information minister.
