Fareed’s kidnapping contributes to Balochistan’s growing frequency of enforced disappearances.

The Baloch Human Rights Commission claims that in the first half of 2024, Pakistani security agents have so far forcefully disappeared over 206 people. These folks, who deal with ongoing activities in the area, include students, political activists, and regular residents.

Human rights groups have continuously voiced their concerns about the use of enforced disappearances as a form of repression in Balochistan, according to the Balochistan Post. They contend that the goal of these measures is to quell criticism and stifle demands for more independence or autonomy.

The Pakistani government has been urged by international groups like as Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International to look into these allegations, bring those responsible to jail, and provide justice to the victims and their families.

Despite several demonstrations against Pakistani soldiers, the victims’ families were not given justice. The powers used violence to silence their voices. According to the Balochistan Post, these families claim that the government also participates in this kind of abuse of Baloch people.

The abductions of thousands of Baloch individuals in the area have also been brought to light by the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), a well-known advocacy organization.

The continued persecution by Pakistani troops has made the suffering of the Baloch people worse, according to a recent statement by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee, which denounced the oppressions inflicted on them by the security forces. These individuals have difficulty accessing enough food, health, and education facilities. The Pakistani troops perpetrate crimes on innocent people in such appalling conditions.
