One person died in Islamabad during a protest organized by PTI in Pakistan
Islamabad: The Express Tribune said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the party of imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan, staged a demonstration in Islamabad that resulted in one death and several injuries.
According to the Express Tribune, violent battles with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) demonstrators in Islamabad resulted in the deaths of over 70 cops and the serious injuries of a police constable.
In a post on X, the PTI said, “Around 20 people have been directly shot by the current fascist government, which is using brute force to prevent citizens from reaching Islamabad for a peaceful protest against the regime.”.
Additionally, it stated: “The administration has used all available repression tools, such as shock grenades, rubber bullets, and expired tear gas shells. Because this military-backed dictatorship is holding onto a stolen mandate that the people of Pakistan are demanding be given to its legitimate winner, Imran Khan, they have used every possible means to quell opposition. Pakistan is essentially under lockdown, and things are getting worse.
In order to restore democracy and safeguard human rights in Pakistan, the party called on the international community to pay prompt attention to the situation there and speak out.
PTI said in a post on X that thousands of Pakistanis were peacefully marching in Islamabad to fulfill three agendas: the return of the stolen mandate, the liberation of political prisoners, and the repeal of the 26th Amendment and restoration of Pakistan’s constitution.
The Express Tribune said that Saif and Gohar Khan, the PTI’s chairperson, met with Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), for ninety minutes at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi in response to the protests.
According to the Express Tribune, Gohar Khan called the meeting important and affirmed that Imran Khan’s demand for a demonstration is still in effect and that reports that it was called off were false.
After the discussion, Gohar Khan emphasized to the media that the PTI founder’s position on the protest remained unaltered and that the movement will carry forward according to its original plan. According to the Express Tribune, the meeting was centered on strategic talks on the current political climate and the party’s future strategy.
