Nearly 50 million US dollars were used for ‘condoms in Gaza’

Washington, DC: The US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) discovered that around USD 50 million was used to finance “condoms in Gaza,” according to US Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, who gave her maiden press conference on Tuesday (local time).

Leavitt referred to the money as “preposterous” and said that the government is focused on managing American dollars responsibly.

Additionally, DOGE and OMB discovered that around $50 million in public funds were spent on condoms in Gaza. That is a ridiculous waste of public dollars. Therefore, being good stewards of tax funds is the main goal of this halt,” she said.

Elon Musk, the CEO of DOGE, voiced his skepticism about the enormous sum of money.

On X, he wrote, “My guess is that a lot of that money ended up in the pockets of Hamas, not actually condoms,” stating, “Yes, even in the unlikely event that the money was actually spent on condoms, we should NOT be sending US taxpayer money to buy condoms for foreigners.”

Musk posted a meme on his X Twitter in the same context.

Trump’s decision to re-designate the Houthis as a foreign terrorist organization prompted Leavitt to describe a reporter’s question as “not a bad idea.” The reporter inquired as to whether the Biden administration’s decision to deprive the Houthis of their terrorist organization classification was being investigated.

Leavitt remarked, “Well, that’s a very good point,” with an air of admiration. Although I haven’t heard anything about such a probe, given that the Houthis are unquestionably terrorists, it wouldn’t be a terrible idea. Since they have attacked US Navy vessels all throughout the globe, I believe that this administration made a very smart decision in designating them as a terrorist organization. The previous government made a stupid choice, in my opinion. As for an inquiry, I’m not sure, but it’s not a horrible idea,” she remarked.

According to a White House announcement, on January 22, Donald Trump issued an executive order designating Ansar Allah, also referred to as the Houthis, as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO).

The executive order initiates the process for designating the Houthis as an FTO. The statement said that in January 2021, President Trump classified the Iranian-backed Houthis as an FTO.

The statement also said the Biden administration revoked the Houthis’ designation within a month of entering office.
