Myanmar hit by an earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale

Naypyitaw: According to a National Centre for Seismology (NCS) announcement, Myanmar was rocked by an earthquake on Friday with a Richter Scale value of 4.1. Because of its shallow depth (10 km), the earthquake was vulnerable to aftershocks.

The NCS said in a post on X that “EQ of M: 4.1, On: 11/04/2025 08:02:14 IST, Lat: 18.34 N, Long: 95.89 E, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Myanmar.”

Following the catastrophic earthquake that struck the area on March 28, India launched a rare appeal for assistance and is still pursuing Operation Brahma.

According to the Indian Embassy in Myanmar, the Indian assistance team evaluated six locations in Naypyitaw on Thursday.

“Widening Operation Brahma”, the Embassy said in a post on X. The Indian team of safety and demolition engineers evaluated six locations in Naypyitaw today after evaluating six impacted sites in Mandalay. Additionally, an orthopaedic surgeon from our medical staff is helping 70 patients at a hospital in Naypyitaw with their care.”

As part of Operation Brahma, India has been actively involved in the relief operations in the wake of the terrible earthquake in Myanmar. The Indian Army has been giving vital assistance at its Field Hospital in Mandalay, the city that was most severely affected.

According to an Army announcement, as of April 9, 1,651 people have been treated at the Army Field Hospital, including 281 patients on that day alone.

Additionally, the hospital performed 38 minor and seven major procedures. In order to evaluate the destruction of a few structures, an Indian Army Engineer team (19 ER) also went from Mandalay to the capital, Nay Pyi Taw, where they met with representatives from Myanmar’s Ministry of Construction.
In the meanwhile, a second group of Field Hospital orthopaedic experts flew to Nay Pyi Taw and spoke with the Myanmar Ministry of Health about specialised prostheses for 70 earthquake-affected patients.

According to the State Administration Council’s media team, the devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28 has left 3,645 people dead, 5,017 wounded, and 148 missing as of Friday.
