MND: More than 30 PLA aircraft detected around Taiwan
Taipei: Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense (MND) said Friday that it has detected more than 30 PLA aircraft and eight PLAN boats in the area, indicating a rise in Chinese military activities. Up to 6 a.m. (UTC+8) today, 33 PLA planes and 8 PLAN ships were seen flying over Taiwan. 21 of the planes entered Taiwan’s northern, southwestern, and eastern ADIZ after crossing the median line. We have kept an eye on the issue and taken appropriate action.
Recently, there has been an uptick in Chinese intrusions near Taiwan. Taiwan has increased marine border security in retaliation.
In anticipation of China’s third major military exercise, Joint Sword-2024C, near Taiwan, Taiwan’s military conducted thorough air defense training on Thursday.
According to Taiwan News, the exercise, which included air, naval, and missile defense troops, was carried out to improve preparedness against any aerial and missile attacks.
According to the Air Force Command, the drill, which included the deployment of fighter planes, navy boats, and air defense missile systems, took place between 5 and 7 am. Along with ground-based air defense missile groups, aircraft including the Indigenous Defence Fighter (IDF), Mirage 2000, F-16, and C-130 cargo planes were used.
Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te recently visited the #ROCN Shuei-Sing Barracks completion ceremony. The installation will improve the Taiwanese Navy Underwater Operations Unit’s training capabilities and act as its new home.
After China conducted a massive military exercise outside the island, Taiwan President Lai Ching-te called a high-level national security conference and reassured the people that the government would eliminate any danger to Taiwan’s democracy and security.
His comments followed the announcement by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of military exercises, called “Joint Sword-2024B,” in the Taiwan Strait and its environs, which the Taipei Times said was a “stern warning” to proponents of Taiwan independence.
