Mehrang Baloch expresses concern over recovery of four mutilated bodies of enforced disappearances in Balochistan in 24 hours
Mahrang Baloch, a Baloch activist, has called on human rights organizations to pay urgent attention to the recovery of four mutilated remains of people who were forcefully disappeared in Balochistan in the last 24 hours. She said that the Pakistani military had killed people who had vanished by force and disposed of their disfigured remains.
According to Mahrang Baloch, the remains of two people—Faqir Jan and Essa Baloch—were discovered in Awaran.
She said that Essa Baloch was forcefully abducted in February 2023 and that Faqir Jan was abducted by the Pakistani military on September 26 after being arrested from his residence.
“The recovery of four mutilated bodies of forcibly disappeared individuals in #Balochistan over the past 24 hours is deeply concerning,” Mahrang Baloch said in a post on X.
The remains of two people, Faqir Jan and Essa Baloch, were discovered in Awaran yesterday. Essa was forcefully abducted on February 17, 2023, while Faqir Jan was abducted by the Pakistani military on September 26, 2024, after being arrested from his residence.
“Today, two disfigured corpses were found in Khuzdar’s Zehri neighborhood. They were recognized as those of Zehri residents Masti Khan, son of Gohr Khan, and Abid Hussain, son of Ghulam Hussain. In 2017, the Pakistani military forcefully disappeared both of them,” she continued.
She said that the mangled corpse of Bashir Ahmed, who vanished from Gwadar under duress, had also been found.
The mangled corpse of Bashir Ahmed, who had vanished from Gwadar by force, was also found a few days earlier, even though security agents had openly admitted to his capture.
Similar to this, a few days before, the disfigured corpse of Israr Baloch, a young guy, was found in Turbat. Human rights groups need to pay urgent attention to this serious problem. She said on X, “The Pakistani military is murdering people who have been forcibly disappeared and throwing away their disfigured bodies.”
The unlawful executions of Faqeer Jan and Asa Baloch by Pakistani security personnel in the Awaran area of Balochistan have been denounced by Paank, the human rights section of the Baloch National Movement.
Faqeer Jan, son of Syed Muhammad from Kunri Bazdad, and Asa Baloch, son of Noor Deen from Paho, were kidnapped by Pakistani soldiers a few months ago. Both were slain after months of enforced absence, according to the human rights wing.
Paank said in a post on X that Faqeer Jan, a native of Kunri Bazdad and the son of Syed Muhammad, was taken into custody by Pakistani soldiers and then forced abducted on September 26, 2024. On February 17, 2023, Asa Baloch, son of Paho resident Noor Deen, vanished under identical circumstances. On November 30, 2024, a staged confrontation in the Buzdad Burbodonk neighborhood of Awaran resulted in the deaths of both people.
Paank requested the Pakistani government to conduct an urgent and open investigation into these deaths, pointing out that they constitute serious breaches of both international law and human rights.
“These actions represent gross violations of human rights and international law, including enforced disappearances and extrajudicial executions,” Paank said in the post on X. We urge the Pakistani government to stop the systematic use of extrajudicial executions and enforced disappearances in Balochistan, hold those involved accountable, and launch an urgent, open, and unbiased inquiry into these atrocities.
In light of these crimes, the world community cannot keep quiet. For the victims and their families, justice must be served.
