Kamala Harris had a “cordial and brief” phone conversation with Trump after second assassination attempt
US: Vice President Kamala Harris expressed her sympathy for her Republican counterpart Donald Trump, to whom she made a phone call on Tuesday, which was reported as ’polite and short, says the statement issued by The White House link view. “Mrs. Harris, Vice President, asked a former President Trump for his appreciation of his security. This statement was given by a White House aide.
This call came after the US secret service averted a second assassination attempt on Trump within two months. On Sunday, officers of the Secret Service fired at a suspected assassin, Ryan Wesley Routh, when they saw the barrel of his gun extending beyond the fenceline at president Trump’s golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida. Routh was later arrested by local police. Trump told Fox News on Tuesday, “We’ve been requesting additional personnel for some time”, and then confirmed that more Secret Service protection was on the way.
Trump talks about post-election security
“I think we’re getting some now. I was told that more agents come soon,” Trump stated in a phone interview. When Donald Trump walked into a room in the company of his security detail, the head of the Secret Service told him that new robust measures would have to be taken should he wish to keep playing golf, The New York Times’s report reads.
During the meeting held on Monday, Trump turned to Ronald Rowe, who is the acting director of the US Secret Service and asked whether it was still safe for him to play the game of golf. Rowe said that the Secret Service viewed the golf course at joint base Andrews, which is in Maryland, as being safer than playing mobile golf due to the fact that it is on a military base. Since the attempt on the president, there have emerged articles threatening the evidence that both houses of our politics are pointing fingers at each other for the vitriolic language which has incited violence in politics.
‘There were no attempts made to take Harris’s life’
During a Tuesday briefing, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated that she found it unacceptable to the remarks of Republican vice-presidential candidate JD Vance regarding Vice President Kamala Harris being the target of any assassination attempts in the future, calling them irresponsible.
“As for the difference that exists between conservatives and liberals. For the last couple of months and in no other place, there has been no Kamar Harris assassination attempted,” Vance took it to say on Monday.
Jean-Pierre cautioned that such declarations can put Harris at risk. “Making such comments does nothing but provide chances for taking such comments seriously, possibly giving rise to violent actions. This type of language is dangerous,” she expressed.
