Italian Minister Anna Maria Bernini arrives in Delhi on official visit

New Delhi: On Friday, Italian University and Research Minister Anna Maria Bernini and Antonio Tajani, the country’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister, arrived in Delhi on an official visit. According to Randhir Jaiswal, the Ministry of External Affairs’ official spokesperson, this high-level visit would further solidify the strategic alliance between Italy and India.

“Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Antonio Tajani and Italy’s Minister of Universities and Research Anna Maria Bernini arrived in New Delhi for an official visit,” he said in a post on X. The strategic alliance between Italy and India will be further strengthened by this high-level visit.

He posted on X as soon as he got there, saying, “I just got to India. Strengthening the strategic alliance between our two nations will be a crucial objective. I appreciate the greeting.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has sent a media advisory stating that Tajani would meet with Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal during his visit. On April 12, he will visit President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. On April 12, he will leave New Delhi.

India and Italy met in the nation’s capital earlier in February to explore ways to strengthen cooperation in important areas including infrastructure, transportation, agriculture, military, and space. In order to discuss measures to increase bilateral commerce and fortify collaboration in these vital sectors, Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal met with Antonio Bartoli, the Italian Ambassador to India, and Maria Tripodi, Italy’s Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International collaboration.

Goyal hailed the meeting as “productive” and emphasised both nations’ commitment to strengthening economic relations on social media X.

“Had a fruitful discussion with Italian Ambassador to India H.E. Antonio Bartoli and Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Maria Tripodi. We spoke about expanding bilateral commercial relations and bolstering cooperation in vital fields including infrastructure, transportation, agriculture, military, and space.
