Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu plans to visit Washington DC next week
Tel Aviv: According to The Times of Israel, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s administration is organizing his trip to Washington, DC, for a meeting with US President Donald Trump next week.
According to The Times of Israel, Netanyahu is expected to leave on Sunday and return on Thursday, but the exact itinerary has not been finalized and will depend on his health as he recovers from prostate surgery.
Netanyahu would be the first foreign leader to meet Trump during his second term if he makes the trip.
On January 26, Netanyahu expressed gratitude to Trump for providing them with “tools” for self-defense.
“Thank you, President Trump, for keeping your promise to give Israel the tools it needs to defend itself, to confront our common enemies and to secure a future of peace and prosperity,” he said in a post to X.
Netanyahu, however, criticized the International Criminal Court for its racism and demanded an end to antisemitism on Monday, International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
The comments alluded to the ICC’s issuance of arrest warrants against Netanyahu.
I urge all civilized countries to combat antisemitism on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, whether it is on university campuses, in public spaces, or in international fora like the ICC. The ICC, which was established in the wake of the Holocaust, has embarrassed itself by attacking Israel in an antisemitic manner. We are determined to destroy Hamas once and for all because they are the new Nazis. His post on X said, “The Jewish state will always be a safe haven for Jews around the world.”
As per ICC, Netanyahu’s charges are, “Allegedly responsible for the war crimes of starvation as a method of warfare and of intentionally directing an attack against the civilian population; and the crimes against humanity of murder, persecution, and other inhumane acts from at least 8 October 2023 until at least 20 May 2024.”
