Israeli civilians entered the Joseph’s Tomb complex and opened fire, lightly injuring the driver
According to the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), terrorists fired on a bus transporting Israeli civilians that had entered the Joseph’s Tomb site in Schehem (Nablus) during the night without informing the IDF. The driver was just slightly hurt.
The city is located inside the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) sphere of influence, where it is illegal for Israeli nationals to go without permission.
Although Jews consider the tomb, where the biblical figure Joseph, son of the forefather Jacob, is buried, to be a sacred place, visits must first be approved by and organized with the IDF due to its being inside the PA’s boundaries.
IDF soldiers raided the property after learning that Israeli citizens had invaded Nablus, and all of the residents were subsequently evacuated.
The Israel Police moved the Israelis engaged in the event for further investigation.
