Israeli authorities blew up thousands of Hezbollah pagers ahead of schedule because they feared the Lebanese plot would be leaked

Lebanon: To Israel’s concern that the Iranian-backed grouping was fishing for their plans, they detonated numerous Hezbollah pagers in Lebanon on Tuesday, reported a few sources earlier than planned.

As I noted from the New York Post, some intelligence that made the pagers, including concealed explosives devices, may have been a factor for the decision that was said to be approved by prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu. According to Gold Apollo, a Taiwanese firm, the pagers, mostly of the AR-924 model, were modified according to legal documentation purportedly before their dispatch to Lebanon.

To allow for a connected detonation, some explosives were placed against the battery with a remote connection. On Wednesday, following the first strike against Hezbolla that used handheld transceivers, explosion commenced a second wave of explosions. The fear of hezbollah operators abandoning their devices after initial strike provoked this drama.

“A whole lot of damage,”

Bob Baer the CNN analyst on intelligence affairs, indicated that Israel has disrupted the Hezbollah communication system, which may lead to an offensive downhill in a few days in Lebanon. As the fight stands today, Israel has an advantage over Lebanon since the recent attacks have rendered Hezbollah incapable of executing operations in a real cohesive manner, ex-CIA agent Baer claims.

Baer noted that after Gaza became the focus of their adverse attention, the Israelis, according to the countries one official eluded, appear to be “turning delicate” to top Hezbollah, the aforementioned detail head.

He issued a word of caution that this escalation may result in Lebanon being invaded or subjected to heavy bombardment. He described Israel’s penetration into the communication and supply channel of Hezbollah as a “great defeat” for the organization. Despite these changes in command, the communication strategy in regards to mobile phones had also changed considerably.

Many reports say this year, earlier friends of the group reported that Hezbollah used pagers because they feared there could be such Israeli surveillance and even attacks on their cellphones. Cellphone usage among the members of the organization’s founders was also discouraged, as they said that people should continue to use such media. After all, because the pages had been destroyed, this change was catastrophic.

“This is the Last Chance.”

Israeli investigative reporter Ronen Bergman, who was in Israel’s Channel 12, remarked that compared with the Tuesday reports, additional equipment belonging to Hezbollah was destroyed last Wednesday. Today, however, those devices that have been the focus of terrorism so far and which were larger than normal were generally full of a lot more explosive material and had far bolder explosions. The Times of Israel has been quoted by Bergman as saying, ‘We saw anyone even close to these devices would have had a much lower chance of survival.”

He further said that, among other things, any gadgets that were used for military communication, such as walkie-talkies, were also aimed at. The purpose of the attacks was to emphasize the fact that Hezbollah’s military operational tactical communication network as an entity is largely ineffective.

Bergman indicated that the suicide bombers and their handlers might have assumed that in the aftermath of the previous day’s events, all Hezbollah constituencies would be worried enough to search through all their inventories. Hence, detonating the charges within the last known period may have felt like ‘the very last opportunity’ to them.

“This is the epitome of brutal, premeditated Israeli criminal aggression.”

Parties including Hezbollah and the Lebanese state have condemned the attacks as “criminal Israeli aggression”. Hezbollah officials have vowed that they will take revenge on Israel. A key member of the ‘gang,’ Hashim Safi Al Din, sounded caution when they attacked their agents, calling it treachery and vowing “unprecedented bloody vengeance.”

Despite the fact that this operation had two arms, it is obvious that, at least in public, American officials and many accounts of the situation emphasize that Israel did not take responsibility for the attacks. This episode does in fact illustrate a remarkable level of penetration into Hezbollah’s communication systems, according to some analysts. As a result of increasing hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, more violence within the West Asia region is expected to unfold with no end in sight.
