Harris fumes as Trump clip played during Fox interview, says Trump called Americans “internal enemies”
In an interview with a conservative network, Harris promised to sever ties with Joe Biden as president in an effort to win over Republican supporters who are leery of Trump. Bret Baier, the interviewer, and Harris disagreed on a number of contentious topics, including as immigration and gender transition surgery. The Democratic contender kept asking, “May I finish?” as the presenter spoke over her responses.
A pivotal point in the thirty-minute interview occurred when Harris was asked about remarks she made the previous week, which Republicans have exploited. She said that she could not recall anything that Biden would have done differently in his four years in office.
“My presidency will not be a continuation of Joe Biden’s presidency,” said the 59-year-old Harris, who was chosen by her party to replace the ailing Biden in July. Harris continued, “I represent a new generation of leadership,” and stated that she would offer “fresh and new ideas.” Biden had said on Tuesday that Harris will “cut her own path” in her role as president.
Additionally, Harris unleashed a scathing assault on the 78-year-old Republican former president Trump for allegedly threatening to deploy the military against opponents inside. He is the one who often denigrates, insults, and minimizes Americans. It is him who speaks of an “enemy within.”
“Very fair interview.”
“Once again, congratulations to Bret Baier on a tough but very fair interview, one that clearly showed how totally incompetent Kamala is,” Trump said on his Truth Social page. With fewer than three weeks remaining, Harris’s first-ever sit-down with Fox was a risky move as she looks to end the current impasse in the race for the White House.
During the interview, the Democrat was subjected to intense grilling by Baier, who also asked her to react to campaign advertising for Trump and a video of the Republican supporting his comments on the military. Questions on Harris’s electoral challenger, Trump, were frequently redirected to her. A few of the more heated discussions occurred when Baier pressed Harris on the unprecedented quantity of undocumented migrants who had entered the country illegally during the Biden presidency. The numbers have plummeted in the last several months.
In response, Harris said that while a plan for increased border security had been offered by the Biden-Harris administration, “Donald Trump told Republicans to kill it.” Harris was also questioned about gender surgery for illegal immigrants or convicts, a conservative attack angle that has been featured in a number of recent television advertisements for the Trump campaign.
Harris said, “I will obey the law — and it’s a law that Donald Trump actually followed.” She was alluding to a New York Times article published on Wednesday that stated that prisoners provided treatment that was gender affirming when Trump was president. When asked when she had been aware that Biden’s mental clarity had “diminished” prior to his withdrawal from the race after a catastrophic debate with Trump, Harris once again shifted the conversation back to the Republican. “Joe Biden is not running for office, Brett. Donald Trump is, too,” she said.
