French Ambassador Thierry Mathou: Aim to bring 30,000 Indian students to France by 2030
French Ambassador Thierry Mathou: During the Choose France Tour 2024, Thierry Mathou, the French ambassador to India, emphasized the country’s dedication to enhancing Indo-French educational cooperation. With a target of 30,000 Indian students in France by 2030, he said, the trip seeks to draw Indian students to the country.
Speaking on Wednesday at the New Delhi stop of the Choose France Tour 2024, Mathou emphasized the value of Indo-French educational partnerships.
More than 50 French colleges and institutes are now showing their academic programs to Indian students as part of the Choose France Tour 2024. According to Choose France Tour 2024’s official website, this multi-city education tour is taking place in Mumbai, Chandigarh, New Delhi, Hyderabad, and Bangalore. It began on October 19 and will end on October 27.
In an interview with the media, Mathou stated: “We will visit around five cities as part of the ‘Choose France Tour 2024’: Chandigarh, Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. Over 11,000 parents and students have signed up thus far. There are 57 universities and scholars from many disciplines here.
He said, “At the core of the strategic partnership between France and India, we have set a target of having at least 30,000 Indian students by 2030.”
“We want students to become ambassadors of the strategic partnership between France and India,” Mathou said, going into additional detail about the connection between China and India. India has seen significant investments from French businesses. Over 700 businesses are making investments in India. They generate about 5 lakh employment. There are chances for Indian students who study in France to return home and continue this collaboration. I am very happy to be here, and that is the justification for our goal and approach.”
When questioned about the most well-liked programs, the French Ambassador said, “Business courses are now the most well-liked programs. But we also aim to draw Indian students to other fields, including hospitality and engineering.”
Notably, public universities, management and engineering schools, and specialized schools in the arts and hospitality are all included in the Choose France Tour 2024 itinerary. Students will have the chance to meet with these institutions one-on-one and receive free guidance on how to apply for the upcoming academic year directly from the schools.
