Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed attends BRICS Summit held in Kazan
Sheikh Abdullah began his remarks at the BRICS Plus Summit by extending President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s greetings and expressing gratitude to President Vladimir Putin and the BRICS Russian Chairmanship for hosting the BRICS Summit this year.
“We appreciate these efforts to enhance international dialogue at a time when we need collective action to address global challenges and join hands to build a better world,” said the top diplomat for the United Arab Emirates. A shared vision has developed as a result of Russia’s BRICS chairmanship, strengthening the organization as a forum for global collaboration to not only address issues but also steer the globe toward prosperity in the future.”
He went on to say that BRICS is an example of a collaboration built on multifaceted cooperation rather than just economic cooperation. Sheikh Abdullah clarified that countries may gain from a variety of experiences and make progress together via this platform, noting that the UAE has always prioritized international collaboration in its policies.
“The UAE believes that true partnerships are underpinned by shared interests and mutual respect, rather than narrow interests or temporary considerations,” he said.
“We are here today with the Friends of BRICS to talk about how we can work together to create a better, more stable future,” he said. Today’s globe is experiencing extraordinary changes that impact every nation, regardless of its size or location. These changes might include abrupt changes in the economy, faster climate change, increased issues in the energy sector, or an increase in conflicts and wars.
Sheikh Abdullah stated, “We are all called upon to act to find constructive, log-term solutions, which is the main drive behind our cooperation within the BRICS framework, a group that is committed to upholding the United Nations Charter and international legitimacy as the basis for international cooperation and multilateral action.”
Noting that this is what can put an end to the suffering of people and civilians in war zones and conflict areas and usher in a new phase of construction, progress, and prosperity, he also emphasized that maintaining global peace and stability is the only way to create a global front capable of facing shared challenges. “Based on this principle, we call for an immediate and permanent end to the fighting in Gaza, the unconditional delivery of humanitarian aid to all civilians, and the initiation of a political process based on the two-state solution, peaceful coexistence, and relevant international legitimacy resolutions,” Sheikh Abdullah said.
“In a similar vein, we emphasize the significance of continuing to support all international efforts to address the humanitarian crisis, de-escalate the situation in Lebanon, and immediately cease hostilities and Israeli aggressions,” he said. We vehemently denounce transgressions of UN Security Council resolutions and international law.
Strengthening collaboration with the “Friends of BRICS” in a number of areas, including trade, investment, energy transition, sustainability, transportation, and water and food security, is one of the main topics of discussion at today’s summit, according to Sheikh Abdullah. This partnership, according to him, “will enhance our ability to address global challenges more effectively and build a foundation for inclusive and sustainable economic growth.”.
He said that the UAE sees growing collaboration with partners as a chance to create creative economic plans that create new channels for knowledge and experience sharing, which would benefit both parties.
“Multilateralism is not an option but a necessity in today’s world,” Sheikh Abdullah said. We cannot address the economic, climatic, or social issues we confront on our own,” he said, adding that multilateralism is the cornerstone of stability and development.
He reaffirmed that the UAE is prepared to further this strategy by working with allies and the BRICS nations.
“My nation acknowledges the crucial role emerging and developing nations play in determining the direction of the global economy,” he said. In this regard, we think that nations in the Global South ought to be involved and powerful participants in economic decision-making.
Sheikh Abdullah went on to say that the UAE aims to foster an open and cooperative attitude via its involvement in BRICS activities and close collaboration with its friends and partners. “We believe in the importance of building more partnerships and platforms for the exchange of knowledge and expertise that contribute to achieving our shared goals and driving sustainable development.”
As we strive to advance a durable institutional architecture that supports these changes, we will keep supporting BRICS’ growth goals and fostering constructive interaction with friendly nations and international blocs, Sheikh Abdullah said.
His Highness concluded by thanking President Vladimir Putin and the Russian Federation for their kind welcome and well-organized event, and he expressed his optimism that the summit’s results would be a significant step in advancing BRICS cooperation.
Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State; Mohammed Ahmed bin Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Ambassador to the Russian Federation; Khamis Rashid Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the Council for Diplomatic and Consular Affairs and the UAE’s BRICS Sous Sherpa; and Saeed Mubarak Al-Hajeri, Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, joined him at the BRICS Plus Summit.
