According to the palace, Charles (76) has now returned to his home in London, Clarence House, and as a precaution, all of his public engagements for Friday have been canceled.

The King announced in February of last year that he had been receiving treatment for an unidentified kind of cancer. The kind of adverse effects was not disclosed by the palace. They claimed, however, that they were only transient and “required a short period of observation in the hospital.”

King Charles has had a busy itinerary in recent months, hosting foreign leaders such as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and seeing the HMS Prince of Wales, an aircraft carrier.

His prognosis and the kind of therapy he is receiving have not been updated by the palace. In February of last year, while undergoing surgery to remove an enlarged prostate, his cancer was discovered. Despite not providing any information about his condition, the palace has said that he does not have prostate cancer.

After receiving chemotherapy for many months, the Princess of Wales, the daughter-in-law of King Charles, who was also diagnosed with cancer last year, declared in January that she was cancer-free.

According to The New York Times, the palace said that King Charles’ recuperation was proceeding well and that the adverse effects were typical of patients undergoing therapy. Officials from the palace said that they did not anticipate Charles making significant adjustments to his itinerary, which includes both domestic and international trips.

In April, King Charles is scheduled to make a state visit to Italy. Since Pope Francis is still recuperating from pneumonia and a serious respiratory ailment, the palace said earlier this week that he and his spouse, Queen Camilla, would not be visiting him at the Vatican.

The palace released a statement stating that “His Majesty was due to receive credentials from the ambassadors of three different nations this afternoon.” It said that “Tomorrow, he is due to undertake four public engagements in Birmingham and is greatly disappointed to be missing them on this occasion.”

The statement continues, “He very much hopes that they can be rescheduled in due course and offers his deepest apologies to all those who had worked so hard to make the planned visit possible.”

According to The New York Times, King Charles has resumed a busy schedule in recent months, which included a nine-day trip to Australia and Samoa last year. The palace did not, however, rule out making any more small changes to his schedule, stating that they will be made after discussion with his physicians. According to officials, the UK monarch’s public responsibilities were enjoyable and helped to maintain his well-being.
