Dubai Humanitarian mobilizes urgent relief supplies for people directly affected by conflict in Lebanon
Dubai: Dubai Humanitarian has mobilized immediate assistance supplies for those immediately impacted by the crisis in Lebanon, on the order of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE’s vice president and prime minister and ruler of Dubai.
A total of 192 metric tons of emergency supplies were sent by the UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency. The effective delivery of a greater number of goods is made possible by land transportation.
The mission began on November 4th with a convoy of 27 vehicles, which was financed by Dubai Humanitarian’s Global Humanitarian Impact Fund. As the impending winter intensifies the need for expedited humanitarian interventions, the mission seeks to guarantee the prompt and well-organized provision of supplies to disadvantaged areas in Lebanon.
Under the direction of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai is steadfast in supporting Lebanon throughout its difficult times. His Excellency Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Chairman of Dubai Humanitarian, said, “This aid convoy is a potent symbol of partnership and compassion, reflecting our collective commitment to alleviating suffering and bringing hope to communities facing unprecedented challenges.”
UNHCR Senior Advisor and Gulf Cooperation Council Representative Khaled Khalifa said: “We appreciate the UAE’s continued humanitarian efforts, which are exemplified by today’s cargo. In line with our common goal with UAE partners like Dubai Humanitarian, this is another important step. Essential humanitarian supplies that meet the pressing needs of displaced families in Lebanon are part of our prompt assistance. After losing the warmth and protection of their homes, they are getting ready for the hard winter that lies ahead.
Due to the intensifying violence and increased Israeli bombings, the government of Lebanon believes that over 1.2 million people have been displaced, mostly from South Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley, and the heavily populated southern suburbs of Beirut.
According to individuals working on relief operations, humanitarian needs are rapidly increasing, and immediate financing is required to address the situation on the ground. Access to secure shelters, healthcare, financial aid, protection services, and emotional support are becoming essential parts of the relief efforts, but the resources available are still far from enough to assist everyone in need.
