Donald Trump: Will sign rare minerals deal with Ukraine “very soon”
Washington DC: US President Donald Trump said on Thursday (local time) that he will be “very shortly” signing a rare earth mineral contract with Ukraine. Trump voiced hope about a possible truce in the Russia-Ukraine war before announcing an executive order to destroy the Department of Education.

“We are doing really well here. As you can see, things are really well,” he added. Declaring that he had signed an executive order increasing US vital mineral output, Trump said
“Moments ago, I issued an executive order greatly boosting rare earth and essential mineral output. It’s quite important in our nation. We’re also making deals in other places to unleash rare earths and minerals, and lots of other things all over the globe, but in particular Ukraine,” he stated.
The World Economic Forum claims that while China may not have the biggest quantities of rare earth minerals, it controls the refining process, so the country imports the most vital minerals worldwide. While the United States, Chile, Switzerland, and Australia have seen notable growth in exports of raw, semi-processed, or processed essential minerals, China is followed as a major importer by the United States, India, and Germany.
Referring to his most recent phone calls on Tuesday to Russian President Vladimir Putin and on Wednesday to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Trump expressed optimism for the continuous war to be ended.
“We are doing rather well with regard to Ukraine and Russia; one of the things we are doing is soon negotiating an agreement with regard to rare earth with Ukraine. They are very valuable in rare earth minerals. That is really appreciated. We would dearly like to see this stop; we talked with President Putin and President Zelenskyy yesterday. In that sense, I believe we are doing really well. With luck, thousands of individuals per week will be spared death. I think we’ll get it done; they are dying so needlessly. Though I think we’ll get it done, we will see what transpires.”
White House news officer Karoline Leavitt said during a Wednesday news conference that the government has “moved beyond the economic minerals deal.”
Leavitt said, “It implies the minerals dealt with the first set of frameworks you all saw in that very public meeting with President Zelenskyy and President Trump in the Oval Office. Right now, we are concentrating on a long-term peace accord.”
Earlier, Trump also signed a proclamation commemorating Patrick Henry’s 250th anniversary address to the Second Virginia Convention.
“I just want to announce that I signed a proclamation a few moments ago honoring the 250th anniversary of Patrick Henry’s famous speech to the Second Virginia Convention, in which he declared the very well-known, very famous words, ‘Give me liberty or give me death,'” he remarked.
