Donald Trump: Transgender athletes will be barred from participating in girls’ and women’s sports
Washington, DC: According to The New York Times, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Wednesday prohibiting transgender athletes from playing women’s and girls’ sports unless they were designated female at birth.
Additionally, he pledged to stop providing federal funds to universities and high schools that disregard the mandate.
During his speech from the White House East Room, Trump said, “From now on, women’s sports will be exclusively for women.” “The war on women’s sports is over.”
In ‘Keeping Males Out of Women’s Sports,’ the White House issued an executive order stating that several schools and sports organizations have let males participate in women’s sports in recent years.
It went on to say that women and girls are denied “meaningful access to educational facilities” because they are “ignoring fundamental biological truths” between the sexes.
“This deprives women and girls of the same chance to engage in and succeed in competitive sports, and it is degrading, unjust, and hazardous to them. Furthermore, educational institutions that receive federal funding are prohibited from denying women an equal chance to engage in sports under Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 (Title IX). Women and girls are denied meaningful access to educational facilities when basic biological realities between the sexes are ignored, as several federal courts have acknowledged,” the statement said.
The statement went on to say, “Therefore, it is the policy of the United States to rescind all funds from educational programs that deprive women and girls of fair athletic opportunities, which deprives them of privacy and puts them in danger, humiliates them, and silences them.” As a matter of safety, justice, dignity, and the truth, the United States will likewise prohibit males from competing in women’s sports more generally.
Trump’s January 20 order, which mandated that the federal government define sex as exclusively male or female and modify federal policies and government-issued identification documents accordingly, is followed by this new directive.
Throughout the election season, Trump and other conservative politicians have often brought up transgender athletes participating in women’s sports. Additionally, according to The New York Times, 25 states have enacted legislation prohibiting transgender athletes from participating in high school and young girls’ sports.
Citing worries about the long-term effects of medical treatments meant to change a child’s sex, the White House issued an executive order a few days ago that forbade government financing, support, or advocacy of such surgeries.
Under the “radical and false claim that adults can change a child’s sex through a series of irreversible medical interventions,” doctors are “chemically and surgically mutilating” youngsters, according to the ruling.
According to the study, the government characterized these treatments as risky and said that impacted youngsters would have lifetime medical issues and irreversible sterilization.
