Donald Trump receives strong criticism after comedian Tony Hinchcliffe perform at Madison Square Gallery

New York: At his show at Donald Trump’s Madison Square Gallery in New York City, stand-up comedian Tony Hinchcliffe drew criticism for referring to Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage.”

Local media stated that comedian and podcast presenter Hinchcliffe made a racist remark during Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s event and compared Puerto Rico, a US territory, to ocean rubbish.

“There’s a lot going on, like, I don’t know if you know this but there’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now,” added the man. “I think it’s called Puerto Rico,” Hinchcliffe said.

According to a media report, the comic made bigoted remarks about Latinos, saying they “love making babies.”

Both Republicans and Democrats criticized Hinchcliffe’s joke, and Trump’s team distanced itself from his remarks.

“This joke does not reflect the views of President Trump or the campaign,” Danielle Alvarez, a spokesman for the Trump campaign, told CNN after the event.

In addition, Hinchcliffe made derogatory remarks regarding Black people, Jews, and Latinos—all important demographics in the next election.

“I think it’s called Puerto Rico,” Hinchcliffe said, alluding to a “floating island of garbage.” “A floating island of trash is now floating in the middle of the ocean; I’m not sure whether you guys are aware of this. At the gathering, Hinchcliffe said, “I believe it’s called Puerto Rico.”

“These Latinos also like having children. They do; just know that,” Hinchcliffe said.

MAGA politicians and artists performed during Trump’s event. Before the former president, a number of Trump supporters made it to the speakers’ list and used the occasion to spout insults at some of Trump’s most favored targets.

However, one of Trump’s largest election rallies was ruined by Hinchcliffe’s comments.

Republican Senator Rick Scott of Florida tweeted, “It’s not funny and it’s not true,” in a post that was shared on X. Puerto Ricans are incredible Americans and wonderful people.

Rep. Carlos Gimenez, a Republican from Florida and a key Trump friend, also took issue with Hichcliffe’s remarks on X. “This is not a joke,” he wrote. “It’s in bad taste and totally lacking in style,” he said on X. “@TonyHinchcliffe clearly isn’t funny & definitely doesn’t reflect my values or those of the Republican Party.”

GOP Representative Anthony D’Esposito of New York responded to Tony Hichcliffe’s comments by saying, “I’m glad to be Puerto Rican. ‘Garbage’ only refers to a subpar comedy show. Keep your message in mind.

A video showing Kamala Harris criticizing Trump for postponing $20 billion in disaster aid after the deadly Hurricanes Irma and Maria that struck the island in 2017 was posted on Instagram Stories by Latin musician Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio.

“There is so much at stake in this election for Puerto Rican voters and for Puerto Rico,” Harris said in the ad.

In another Harris tape that Bad Bunny posted, Harris said, “I will never forget what Donald Trump did and what he did not do when Puerto Rico needed a caring and competent leader.” The well-known artist spoke out against Trump’s disregard for the island and emphasized Harris’ message using his platform.

A snapshot of Harris’ proposal for Puerto Rico and a segment of his video were shared on Jennifer Lopez’s Instagram Story. Lopez is also of Puerto Rican descent.

Along with Harris’ video, Ricky Martin also posted a video of Hinchcliffe cracking the racist comment.

In an 80-minute address that concluded his rally on Sunday, Trump attacked Democratic opponent and Vice President Kamala Harris while vowing to clamp down on immigration. Throughout his address, Donald Trump often criticized immigrants and pledged to use legislation from the 18th century to conduct mass deportations inside the United States.

In contrast to Trump’s tight win over Hillary Clinton in 2016 by fewer than 11,000 votes, Biden beat Trump by well over 150,000 votes in Michigan in the 2020 presidential election.

On November 5, the US presidential election is expected to take place.
