Canadian PM Justin Trudeau has accused India of promoting criminal activities in Canada
Canada: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada has said that India has encouraged criminal activity in his nation and that India has refused his country’s requests for assistance from the Indian government amid rising diplomatic tensions with India. Regarding the assassination of Khalistani insurgent Hardeep Singh Nijjar, Trudeau also said that he has solid proof indicating the participation of Indian operatives in the same.
Daniel Bordman, a Canadian journalist, has challenged Trudeau’s assertions and said that he does not find him to be “credible.”
During a news conference in Ottawa, Trudeau said that actions by Indian agents were endangering public safety, citing data from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).
“As the commissioner of the RCMP has said, they had strong and convincing proof that agents of the Indian government have participated in and are now participating in actions that seriously endanger public safety. This includes the use of covert methods to get information, coercive tactics directed at South Asian Canadians, and participation in more than a dozen threatening and unlawful actions, including murder. “This is not acceptable,” said Trudeau.
“The Indian government and law enforcement authorities have turned down the RCMP’s and national security officials’ repeated requests to collaborate on this issue with them. For this reason, Canadian authorities took unprecedented action this past weekend. They met with Indian authorities to present the information gathered by the RCMP, which led them to the conclusion that six Indian government operatives were likely involved in illegal activity. The Indian government chose not to comply in spite of repeated efforts, he claimed.
“I know the events of the past year and today’s revelations have shaken many Canadians, particularly those in the Indo-Canadian and Sikh community,” Trudeau said in his speech. I understand that many of you feel scared, irate, or outraged. This is not supposed to occur.
“Despite the long and illustrious history of trade, commerce, and people-to-people links between Canada and India, we cannot accept the current state of affairs. He said, “We expect the Indian government to do the same for Canada. Canada fully respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of India.”
“It is my duty as Prime Minister to reassure Canadians who feel that their safety has been jeopardized, but above all, it is my duty to act and never hesitate in doing what is necessary to protect Canadians, and that is exactly what we are doing today,” Trudeau stated.
“When I spoke with Prime Minister Modi at the end of last week, I highlighted how incredibly important the meeting between our national security advisors in Singapore this weekend was going to be,” Trudeau said, expanding on his meeting with Modi last week. It’s likely that he knew about the meeting, and I made sure he understood how serious it had to be.
India made a fundamental mistake
Trudeau said at the news conference that he thought India had made a “fundamental error” in believing it could assist illegal activity against Canadians on Canadian territory. He said that the practice of Indian diplomats gathering information on Canadian residents via dubious and unlawful techniques has now been broken by the RCMP.
“It is clear that the Indian government erred gravely in believing that it could participate in extortion, murders, and other violent crimes committed against Canadians on Indian territory. This is totally intolerable in any nation that respects the rule of law, much less a democracy. We must thus take these important steps.
“Why did the RCMP decide to come out today and stop the practice of Indian diplomats gathering information on Canadian residents via dubious and unlawful ways and then providing it to criminal organizations that would use that information to commit violent crimes against Canadians, such as extortion and murder? No nation that respects the rule of law, and especially not one that is democratic, can tolerate this basic infringement on its sovereignty. According to Trudeau, “Canada completely respects and acknowledges India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. We expected India to act similarly, but they didn’t in this instance.
Nijjar’s murder should be ignored
Speaking in Ottawa, Trudeau said that he could not overlook Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s death on Canadian territory.
“This is not a position any of us wants to be in. This is not a decision that Canada took intentionally sour ties with India. India is an essential democracy with which we have historical strong commercial relations at a time when geopolitical unpredictability forces democracies to stay together. Because of this, as soon as intelligence agencies began to suggest that India may, if not definitely, be responsible for the death of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the Canadian national killed on Canadian soil last summer, we immediately contacted both the Indian government and our Five Eyes partners, which include the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.
“We don’t want to be in this war, but as a nation, we can’t help but notice that a Canadian has been killed on Canadian territory. Thus, we have informed India of what we know at every stage, according to Trudeau.
“I had a direct conversation with Prime Minister Modi. We have cooperated with our intelligence counterparts, but regrettably, at every stage—from the time I made the statement in the Commons last September until the present—the Indian government has attacked the credibility of the Canadian government, its officials, and its law enforcement agencies in addition to denying and obfuscating the truth. We’ve just said that we’ll let our agencies handle the task, especially when it comes to switching from agency-to-agency information gathering to police investigations that lead to arrests, prosecutions, and punishments inside a strict, impartial, and independent legal system. That has been our strategy at every turn.
“In fact, there was a path where we could have worked together to ensure accountability and changes and steps that would have resulted in keeping Canadians safe because that is our top priority,” Trudeau stated in reference to the RCMP’s recent outreach to its law enforcement counterparts in India.
“We had to disrupt the chain of operations that goes from Indian diplomats here in Canada to criminal organizations to direct violent impacts on Canadians right across this country,” he continued. “The Indian government rejected those advances and our attempts to find some way through this.”
Daniel Bordman said in an X post that Trudeau is indifferent to Canadians’ safety. He said that it was “highly unlikely” that the Canadian authorities would be honest with India.
“Canadians won’t believe Justin Trudeau genuinely cares about Canadian safety after witnessing him and his entire cabinet embrace chaos and terrorism on our streets.” They are not likely to be telling the truth on the India file. Bordman composed.
He put the remarks above a post made by Salman Sima, an Iranian prisoner, who claimed that Justin Trudeau was a chronic liar. He wants us to think that there is a grand conspiracy to harm Canadians coming from India. As a former Islamic Republic political prisoner, I am able to distinguish between official propaganda and the truth.
“Judealists and Khalistanis have been able to take over our streets and attack the Jewish, Iranian, Christian, and Hindu communities for the past year thanks to Justin Trudeau and the RCMP.” There was violence against synagogues, churches, and temples. One of the effects of large-scale, unscreened immigration to Canada is this. Trudeau alone should take the responsibility. Nobody thinks the Liberal-NDP administration is concerned about the citizens of Canada. Sima added, “They appease terrorists” (sic), and used the hashtag TrudeaMustGo.
Canada’s Foreign Minister made the decision to deport Indian immigrants based on evidence.
Melanie Joly, Canada’s minister of foreign affairs, said that the RCMP’s findings in the Nijjar homicide investigation formed the basis for the decision to remove Indian diplomats.
For the sake of both countries, she also pleaded with the Indian government to support the current investigation.
Joly said, “Our government’s top priority is keeping Canadians safe,” in a post on X. Expulsion decisions were made based on unambiguous evidence that the RCMP had obtained in the Nijjar case. For the sake of both nations, we urge the Indian government to assist our continuing probe.
The statement, “Minister Joly announces expulsion of Indian diplomats related to ongoing investigation on violent criminal activity linked to the Government of India,” was posted by Canada’s Foreign Policy page on X, and it prompted her to respond.
Diplomatic dispute escalates between India and Canada
Six Indian diplomats, including the High Commissioner, were expelled from Canada on Monday, the country revealed. The police had accused Indian government operatives of being involved in killings, intimidation, and other “acts of violence” against Sikh separatists in the nation.
The decision to remove the diplomats “was made with great consideration and only after (Canadian police) gathered ample, clear and concrete evidence which identified six individuals as persons of interest in the Nijjar case,” according to a statement released by Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Melanie Joly, on Monday.
According to a statement from India’s Ministry of External Affairs, the unusual move has drastically increased diplomatic relations between the two nations. In reaction, India immediately expulsed six Canadian diplomats, including acting High Commissioner Stewart Ross Wheeler.
The year before, relations between the two nations were at an all-time low when Trudeau claimed to have solid evidence connecting the Indian government to Nijjar’s murder.
