Although Kennedy’s sister calls Trump’s backing of RFK Jr. a “betrayal of values,” Trump hails the “great guy” for it
US: The erstwhile independent presidential contender Robert F. Kennedy Jr. made his public appearance at a Donald Trump rally on Friday, one day after he announced his support for the Republican nominee and suspended his campaign.
Trump, 78, referred to the 70-year-old Kennedy political scion as a “great person” and a “incredible champion” for American ideas before presenting him as a surprise guest at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.
Trump said, “Bobby has run an extraordinary campaign for the past 16 months,” acknowledging that he didn’t enjoy it when he went after him a few times, to cries of “Bobby! Bobby! Bobby!”
The former president praised the American ideals of Robert Kennedy, the father of Robert Kennedy Jr., and his uncle John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States. And I am aware that they are very proud of Bobby as they stare down at him right now. I’m happy for Bobby.
Following the occasion, the head of the Republican Party spoke to reporters, accusing the Democrats of treating RFK Jr. “very badly” and Biden “just like him.”
Sister criticizes RFK Jr., saying, “It’s a sad ending.
In response to Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s decision to withdraw from the presidential race and back Trump, the Kennedy family has adopted a tough stance. His sister, Kerry Kennedy, publicly criticized the decision, calling it a “betrayal” of the core values of their family. In the same letter, she backed Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, two Democratic candidates.
In a statement on X, Kerry said, “We want a future America defined by individual freedom, economic promise, and national prideāa future filled with hope and bound together by a shared vision.”
Kerry said, “Bobby’s decision to back Trump tonight has betrayed the core beliefs of their father and family.”
“Our father and our family’s core beliefs have been betrayed by our brother Bobby’s choice to support Trump today. The narrative has a depressing conclusion.
In his farewell address, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. expressed his belief that there was no practical path to the presidency.
Kennedy accused the Democratic party of being “corrupt” and said that it was waging “continual legal warfare against both President Trump and myself” in his statements.
