Actress Demi Moore opens up about her journey to self-acceptance and being a positive example for her daughters
Recently, actress Demi Moore spoke candidly about her quest for self-acceptance and her attempts to be a good role model for her kids.
At the 2024 Gotham Awards on December 2, the 62-year-old actress told PEOPLE how her outlook on life has been influenced by her middle daughter, Scout Willis.
Demi recalled a chat she had with her middle daughter, Scout, saying, “She sort of expressed it plainly in many of our talks. “When I could be celebrating all that I am, I would like to stop wasting time on all that I am not,” she remarked.
Demi spoke on how growing older has altered her perspectives. Demi and her ex-husband Bruce Willis have three daughters: Rumer, 36, Scout, 33, and Tallulah, 30. She also discussed how she used to judge herself and how she has now changed to a more tolerant perspective.
“I’m not sure whether I would interpret it only in relation to aging as much as considering how, over my whole existence. “I’ve been so critical of myself that I can look back and say, ‘At 20, at 30,” Demi said.
In addition, the G.I. Jane actress said, “I was finding things that weren’t good enough… and so my relationship with it now is much more in a joyous acceptance.”
Demi said, “There are definitely times when you think, ‘I wish that wasn’t that way.'” However, I see myself in the whole of who I am rather than simply the outward manifestation of who I am.
On November 15, the actress performed live at The Loft at the City Winery in New York City, demonstrating her support for Scout. “@scoutlaruewillis live in NYC” is how Demi described the event on her Instagram Stories, where Scout was performing her song “Over and Over.”
