Actor Mark Withers dies at the age of 77
Actor Mark Withers has away at the age of 77. He was most renowned for his parts in “Dynasty,” “Stranger Things,” and many more television series.
Jessie Withers, his daughter, revealed on Friday that he lost his fight with pancreatic cancer on November 22.
“He faced his illness with the same strength and dignity he brought to his craft, leaving a legacy of warmth, humor, and dedication, along with his remarkable ability to make every role unforgettable,” Jessie said in a statement sent to Variety. Colleagues, friends, and fans alike will cherish Mark’s lasting brilliance and dedication to the field.
Throughout his lengthy career, Mark Withers had notable parts in many television series. His portrayal as Steve Carrington’s (Al Corley) boyfriend, Ted Dinard, in a six-episode storyline on Dynasty in 1981 left a lasting effect. Withers’ extensive TV credits included roles in “Wonder Woman,” “Magnum P.I.”, “The Dukes of Hazzard,” “Remington Steele,” “Hill Street Blues,” “Dallas,” “Days of Our Lives,” “L.A. Law,” “Matlock,” “Frasier,” “The King of Queens,” “Criminal Minds,” “Drop Dead Diva,” “Castle,” “Sense8,” and “Stranger Things.” His character’s tragic death had a significant impact on the plot and the audience.
Withers, who was born on June 25, 1947, in Binghamton, New York, studied acting at California State University in Los Angeles before graduating from Minnesota State University in Mankato with a Master of Fine Arts.
Mark Withers is survived by his wife, Haiyan Liu Withers, and their daughter, Jessie.
