According to the National Road Safety Authority, 436 deaths were recorded on Israel’s roads in 2024

Jerusalem: The National Road Safety Authority reports that 436 people died on Israeli roads in 2024. In comparison to 2023, when 361 fatalities were reported, the number represents a 21% rise. Compared to 2007, when 435 road accident fatalities were reported, the current amount is one more fatality.

2024 is the bloodiest year to date, with 159 road deaths, the biggest rise among Israeli-Arab populations. This is a 62% increase from 2023, when just 98 fatalities were reported.

Children between the ages of 0 and 14 are a particularly susceptible category of road users in Arab culture; of the 31 reported deaths, 17 were pedestrians, and the majority occurred in yard and local incidents. This is one of 41 deaths in the State of Israel involving children aged 0 to 14. The percentage of Arab drivers engaged in accidents is almost 50%, and they account for about 37% of all deaths, which is about double the percentage of Arab drivers in Israel.

This year also saw a 26% increase in the number of two-wheeled vehicle riders murdered, reaching 97 fatalities, up from 77 in 2023.

The rise in the number of young drivers murdered is another alarming figure that comes out of the 2024 statistics. 65 young drivers under the age of 24 lost their lives in 2024. The number of young drivers murdered has increased by 55% this year, according to the data.
