A gruesome murder incident came to light in Northamptonshire, UK on suspicion of demanding dowry
Northamptonshire, UK, was rocked by a gruesome murder due to a suspected dowry demand.
Northamptonshire police blame her husband, 23-year-old Pankaj Lamba, for Harshita Brella’s death. The most likely suspect is Lamba.
Harshita’s elder sister, Sonia Brella, told ANI on Friday that while Lamba’s family gave them jewelry and cash for the wedding, they still sought a dowry. Sonia said in an interview with ANI that she believed her sister had been killed for a dowry.
“On March 22 of this year, Harshita and Pankaj Lamba were married. Pankaj was still unhappy despite the family giving him a sizable dowry, and he persisted in requesting more from us,” she claimed.
On November 14, the automobile that had carried Brella’s corpse from Corby to east London was abandoned on Brisbane Road, Ilford. According to the investigation, Harshita was killed on November 10. According to a police statement, they are now looking for Pankaj Lamba, whom they would want to speak with about her death.
On November 15, a nearby police station called to inform us that Harshita had been killed. They may have been told by the embassy. The way this occurred astonished us. Both Harshita’s and Lamba’s phones were off when we phoned them. Pankaj’s family did not seem concerned when we informed them. After the murder, we thought Pankaj must have told his family everything,” Sonia told the newspaper.
According to their statement, Harshita’s corpse was discovered on November 14 and Northamptonshire Police opened a murder inquiry into her death.
“We had talked to Harshita on 10th, we did not talk to Pankaj much, at that time she was very happy…she did not tell us that any fight or anything had happened,” Sonia said.
Sonia informed ANI that even Pankaj’s relatives visited her home on August 29 to seek a dowry after Harshita filed a complaint. In order to get the funds, her father then sold a portion of their land.
She filed a complaint against Pankaj after he attacked her on August 29. His relatives then visited our home and began requesting dowries once again. As a result, my father sold some land to satisfy their demands, and by February, we were able to do so. Once we had the money, we were ready to comply with their requests,” she claimed.
Sonia said that her husband had abused Harshita, and on August 29 she reported him to the Northamptonshire Police for domestic violence. Pankaj was released on bond after secretly paying the fine.
“Harshita filed a complaint against her husband after he attacked her on August 29. She used to fill us in on every detail. When Pankaj paid the fee on October 30, this matter was closed, but Harshita was not notified. She said, “It was reported that Pankaj had resolved the matter by paying the fine.
“Harshita was immediately assigned an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) after it was determined that she was at high risk of domestic abuse,” said Assistant Chief Constable Emma James.During the course of the inquiry, detectives visited and spoke with Harshita many times after placing her in a sanctuary. The accused criminal was promptly apprehended, identified, and granted conditional bail.
According to Sonia, the couple was married on March 22 of this year and relocated to the UK the following month because Lamba wanted to further his education.
On March 22, Pankaj and Harshita were married in an arranged marriage. On April 30, they traveled to the UK, where Pankaj works part-time as a delivery guy while he is a student. There, Harshita is employed as an administrator at a warehouse. He used to inspect her pay stubs and required her to work. She used to be forced to work many shifts by him. He even documented her bank account information. After she filed the complaint, Pankaj even drained her account,” she said.
“UK Police told us that it will take a week or two for Harshita’s body to arrive, we have signed the undertaking and sent it,” she said.
She also urged the UK authorities to transfer Harshita’s lifeless remains.
“Why did Harshita not get guidance from the UK Police after she had previously experienced domestic abuse? According to the UK authorities, Pankaj murdered Harshita and had no companions. According to their neighbors’ testimonies, they observed Pankaj leaving the home around ten minutes after the altercation, she stated.
Sonia believes Pankaj returned to India and is now evading capture.
“I have no doubt that Pankaj is hiding here after escaping from the UK to India. Indian police should be warned by the UK police that if Pankaj is present, they must arrest him.
We would want to file a complaint with the Delhi Police, but they are refusing to file a case since they claim that the crime happened abroad. We will also file a complaint with the Ministry of External Affairs,” she said.
Sonia also expressed her concern that Lamba’s family is aware of the crime and knows where he is.
“At least my sister was coming back,” Pankaj’s mother said coolly when I contacted her to share the news. The whereabouts of her son is unknown, she claimed. On the contrary, they are calm and aren’t even attempting to locate him. She remarked, “This behavior raises suspicions.”
