Wayanad Lok Sabha candidate Haridas said about BJP
Navya Haridas, the BJP’s candidate for the Wayanad Lok Sabha, voiced her disappointment on Saturday with the current bye-poll results for the Wayanad parliamentary seat, where she has been lagging behind Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the Congress nominee.
Haridas said that while the BJP had run development-focused campaigns for the by-elections, the party was unable to get the level of turnout they had hoped for.
“We had high hopes when this counting began because we solely discussed Wayanad’s growth with the populace. What we can do in this situation… During this election, a development-focused campaign was run. We had hoped that individuals would be acting on their thoughts in a way that would promote progress. However, the turnout for the election was sadly rather low. “The BJP was unable to achieve the level we had anticipated,” she said.
According to her, no work has been done in any area of the constituency in the previous five years, and this will continue for the next five years.
“As we can see, no work has been done in any industry during the last five years. For decades, the residents of Wayanad have yearned for a medical college, but that plan was never carried out either. It will be the same for another five years. Additionally, Priyanka Vadra will be in Wayanad for a visit. Therefore, we were urging people to support us in our effort. However, we were unable to prevail this time,” she said.
After the Congress politician and her brother Rahul Gandhi won the Rae Bareli seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra entered the by-elections in the Wayanad parliamentary district.
According to the present pattern, Haridas has been lagging by 512399 votes, while Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has 622338 votes overall and is in the lead with 410931.
