The petition comes after Dr. Singh recently spoke about his strong emotional ties to his alma mater in Hoshiarpur, and Vashist has demanded that Singh’s remarkable contributions to India be further acknowledged.

Virendra Vashist emphasized the important role Dr. Manmohan Singh has played in determining the destiny of the country in a letter to the Punjab Government.

Vashist said that renaming the college in Hoshiarpur after Dr. Singh would be a fair homage to his long legacy and links to the area, acknowledging the former prime minister’s outstanding public service.

Vashists also recommended that a monument be built at the campus to commemorate Dr. Singh’s revolutionary contributions to Indian politics and the economy.

According to him, a monument like this would not only be an homage but also a teaching instrument to motivate leaders in Punjab and beyond in the future.

“I hope this message finds you in the best of health and spirits,” said Virendra Vashist in his letter. After speaking with Dr. Manmohan Singh, I am writing to the Punjab government to respectfully request their help. It was discovered that Dr. Singh has a strong connection with Hoshiarpur, his alma mater, which is very important to him.

I respectfully ask that the Punjab government take into consideration renaming the college at Hoshiarpur in honor of Dr. Manmohan Singh in recognition of his outstanding accomplishments to the country, his commitment to public service, and his longstanding ties to this location.

In addition, it would be appropriate to erect a monument at the institution to honor his legacy, making sure that future generations are informed of his outstanding accomplishments and the motivation he now offers,” the letter said.

He went on to write, “I think this gesture would not only honor a distinguished son of Punjab but also help preserve his priceless legacy for the benefit of our state’s citizens and future leaders.” I appreciate you taking the time to think about my request. I eagerly await your positive reaction.

The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) asked earlier in the day that a college under the University of Delhi be named in honor of the late former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in a letter sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“The University of Delhi is about to establish a college named after Veer Savarkar. NSUI is adamant that this institution be named after Dr. Manmohan Singh, the former prime minister. The NSUI said in a letter to PM Modi that “dedicating prestigious educational institutions in his name would be the most fitting tribute to his legacy, as his recent passing has left a deep void.”

According to Varun Choudhary, National President of NSUI, the institution or campus ought to have the name of Dr. Manmohan Singh, the previous prime minister.”It would be a tribute to his academic journey and contributions to the nation,” the president of NSUI said.

Manmohan Singh died in Delhi earlier on December 26 at the age of 92 from age-related medical complications.

On December 28, he was cremated with full state honors at Nigambodh Ghat at Kashmere Gate, Delhi, in front of his loved ones, friends, coworkers, and government officials.
