Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar asked the government to talk to the distressed and suffering farmers
Maharashtra: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday urged the government to have discussions with the troubled and suffering farmers amid the intense demonstrations by farmers.
The Vice-President was addressing the Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (ICAR-CIRCOT), Mumbai, which is part of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, on its Centenary Foundation Day.
He said the meetings with farmers should take place as soon as possible and questioned Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan whether any promises had been given to farmers. “Honorable Agriculture Minister, were there any formal commitments made by the former Agriculture Ministers? What happened to them, if at all? stated the vice president.
“India has never been at such a height in the world before,” the vice president added, highlighting the protesting farmers. We’ve never been more well-known in the globe. Why is my farmer upset while this is taking place? Why is he in pain? What is causing the farmer’s stress? We are not being realistic and our policy-making is not on the correct road if we see this as a trivial matter. The voice of the farmer cannot be silenced by any power in the nation. If a country tests a farmer’s patience, it will pay a heavy price.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a message to the world that solutions can only come through dialogue,” Dhankar said.
Is it possible to establish a line of demarcation between the government and farmers? Why there is no communication with the farmers is beyond me.Why this endeavor hasn’t occurred yet worries me. The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development is you, Shivraj Singh Chouhan. I think about Sardar Patel and his duty to bring the country together, which he accomplished so brilliantly. You face this problem now, and it is no less important than maintaining India’s unity. Agriculture Minister, was there a written commitment made by the previous Agriculture Minister? “What happened to a promise that was made?” he continued.
