Uttar Pradesh DGP outlined the preparations for Maha Kumbh
Uttar Pradesh DGP Prashant Kumar described the tremendous preparations being made on a war footing on Saturday, with only days left before Maha Kumbh. He added that 40% more soldiers had been deployed than before the 2019 Prayagraj Ardh Kumbh.
Speaking to the media, DGP Kumar emphasized that the government is doing all possible to guarantee a smooth experience for the anticipated 40–50 crore devotees, including foreign tourists, from improved security measures to strong cooperation with railroads.
“Today, all preparations were reviewed in accordance with the administration’s directions. The government and the districts have been making warlike preparations for this Mahakumbh over the last several months. There will be a total of six bathing events after the first major event on January 13. We saw that infrastructure, equipment, and personnel are all very well coordinated, and the authorities carrying out these plans are very confident. We have finished our preparations and are working to make them even better,” he said.
Additionally, he said that specific funding has been set up for disaster management, fire safety, and traffic control.
“We will provide total protection for the devotees, and we also have great cooperation with the trains. It is anticipated that between 40 and 50 crore devotees would attend, and there is a chance that some may travel from outside. Various authorities are collaborating to safeguard the cyber world, and efforts are also being made to combat cybercrime,” DGP Prashant Kumar said.
“The Kumbh is protected by a seven-tiered security system. Furthermore, 40% more troops have been sent out than during the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela in 2019,” he said.
UP DGP Prashant Kumar personally inspected the current preparations for the large religious gathering during a simulated exercise that Uttar Pradesh police units performed at many locations of the Maha Kumbh Mela Nagar on Saturday.
The Maha Kumbh, which takes place in Prayagraj once every twelve years, is set to start on January 13 and end on February 26. On January 14th (Makar Sankranti), January 29th (Mauni Amavasya), and February 3rd (Basant Panchami), the principal bathing ceremonies, called Shahi Snan (royal baths), will be held.
To improve security, Uttar Pradesh Police have placed 2,700 AI-enabled cameras and used underwater drones in and around the Maha Kumbh camping region.
