Union Home Minister Amit Shah today highlighted the settlement of Bru-Reang community in Tripura
Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized the Bru-Reang community’s settlement in Tripura on Sunday, saying that the state’s BJP administration has worked to settle 40,000 members of the tribe and provide them with good water and education.
The Union Home Minister said at a public rally that the Congress and the opposition CPI(M) had disregarded the community when they were in power.
The Bru-Reang community’s residents were living in very unfavorable circumstances. They lacked power, water, and sanitary services. Tripura was controlled for 35 years by the CPI(M) and for many years by the Congress, although neither party really gave any thought to the situation of the Bru-Reang people. “We settled 40,000 people and made great arrangements for clean water and education after the BJP government was formed in Tripura,” he remarked.
At the Kulai RF Village Ground in the Dhalai district, Shah also officially opened and laid the cornerstone for a number of development projects totaling Rs 668.39 crore on Sunday.
Earlier on Saturday, Amit Shah urged the northeast’s chief ministers, governors, and citizens to do all in their power to eradicate drug use and addiction in the “shortest possible time.”
According to him, the ultimate goal is to make “entire India drug-free.” He was speaking at the 72nd Plenary of the North Eastern Council (NEC) in Agartala.
“This area has become a key corridor and consumption center for extremely addictive and illegal narcotics in recent years. Although a lot of progress has been made over the last six years, we are not moving quickly enough.
I urge the northeast’s top ministers, governors, and citizens to do all in their power to eradicate drugs from the area. To eradicate this immorality, we must all work together; the Northeast must be free of drugs and addiction as quickly as possible. Making all of India drug-free is the ultimate goal, Shah said.
He said that the time has arrived for all Northeastern citizens to be granted the constitutionally guaranteed rights.
He went on to say that the administration has taken a multifaceted approach to security.
The police, army, Assam Rifles, and Central Reserve Police Force have all worked together to create a very good system here, which has led to a 31% decrease in violent incidents and an 86% decrease in civilian deaths over the past ten years. We have made progress in the last ten years by developing a specific strategy for each state.
Shah, who presided over the 72nd Plenary session of the North Eastern Council (NEC), said, “There have been about 10,574 militant surrenders and numerous agreements signed.”
