Union Budget 2025-2026 will be discussed in both houses of Parliament
New Delhi: The Union Budget 2025–2026, which Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman unveiled on Saturday, will be discussed by both Houses of Parliament on Thursday. Today, the talks will start at eleven a.m. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will respond to the Rajya Sabha debate over President Droupadi Murmu’s speech.

The Question Hour will kick off today’s Lok Sabha session, and then several ministries will place parliamentary papers on the table.
Manohar Lal Khattar, the Union State Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs; Shripad Yesso Naik, the Union State Minister of Power; Shobha Karandlaje, the Union Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises; Ajay Tamta, the Union State Minister of Road Transport and Highways; Murlidhar Mohol, the Union State Minister of Civil Aviation; Ravneet Singh Bittu, the Union State Minister of Food Processing Industries; and Tokhan Sahu will all place their documents on the table.
The U.S. government’s deportations of more than 100 Indian nationals were “carried out under conditions that are deeply distressing and humiliating.” Gaurav Gogoi, the deputy leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha, has sought to delay the meeting.
“This House must urgently address the issue to prevent further dehumanization of our people and to uphold the dignity of every Indian, both at home and abroad,” the text of the motion states.
In addition, Manickam Tagore, the Lok Sabha’s Congress whip, has proposed an adjournment motion to address the “inhumane deportation of Indian nationals by the United States…and take all necessary steps to prevent the humiliation and mistreatment of Indian nationals abroad.”
The Income Tax Act of 1961 will be replaced with a new income tax bill that is anticipated to be submitted in Parliament today.
There have already been disturbances throughout the session, including strong protests to Rahul Gandhi’s Monday speech on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address. A debate on the recent Mahakumbh stampede catastrophe was also urged by the opposition.
In his response to the Motion of Thanks on President Droupadi Murmu’s speech in the parliament on Tuesday, Prime Minister Modi discussed the BJP-led government’s development programs and its attempts to better the lot of the underprivileged.
On January 31, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Economic Survey 2024-25, which predicted that India’s GDP will expand 6.4% in FY2025.
On January 31, President Droupadi Murmu gave the opening remarks for the Parliament’s budget session.
The session’s initial phase will run until February 13. The meeting will meet again on March 10 and go through April 4.
