Udaipur administration issued this after the dispute in the royal family
Following a fight between two families of the city’s royal family on Monday night, the Udaipur government issued a prohibitory order on Tuesday under Section 163 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) within 500 meters of the Jagdish Chowk area till further instructions.
The prohibitory order was issued on Tuesday by District Magistrate Arvind Poswal. The directive prohibits the assembly of five or more individuals in one location, the exhibition of any kind of weaponry, etc.
A member of the former Udaipur royal family, Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar, described the act as “unfortunate” and expressed hope that the government and administration will support justice and the truth.
“What transpired was regrettable. We hope that the government and administration would support justice and the truth. We may go to the court at any time. Taking matters into your own hands and thinking you are above the law is wrong. Forty years ago, we were in a same predicament. We will respond to their unlawful strategy legally. As long as people come in a responsible manner, the temple inside the city palace is accessible to everyone, he stated, refuting their assertions.
The issue is now under control, DM Poswal informed the public earlier on Tuesday.
“The law and order situation is well under control,” he told reporters. There were discussions with representatives of the society and the palace. On certain areas, we have reached a consensus, while discussions are ongoing on others.
Poswal said that the location of the contested Dhuni Mata Temple has been placed under receivership by the district government.
“The district government has taken action to place the contested Dhuni Mata Temple site under receivership. A lawsuit will be lodged if one of the two organizations want to do so,” he said.
An altercation between two clans of the Udaipur royal family earlier Monday night resulted in stone-throwing outside the City Palace.
Vishvaraj Singh Mewar, the recently crowned Maharana of Mewar and BJP MLA from Rajsamand, was prevented from entering the City Palace, so he and his followers set up camp outside.
At the City Palace gates, a confrontation broke out between Vishvaraj Singh Mewar and his cousin Dr. Lakshay Raj Singh Mewar, as well as their uncle Arvind Singh Mewar. According to reports, Vishvaraj Singh, the 77th Maharana of Mewar, was sent away from the palace.
After the rejection, followers of Vishvaraj Singh Mewar started hurling stones and made an effort to break into the palace. The situation worsened as others within the palace reacted.
According to reports, the dispute among the former royal family started when BJP MLA Vishvaraj Singh Mewar was crowned the 77th Maharana of Mewar.
