Two schools in Delhi received bomb threats via email on Monday
New Delhi: According to authorities, two schools in the nation’s capital received bomb threats via email on Monday. Bomb threats were sent to GD Goenka Public School in Paschim Vihar and Delhi Public School in RK Puram.
“Bomb threats were sent by email to two schools in Delhi: one in Paschim Vihar and one in RK Puram. Children have been sent home by school administrators. Police and fire were notified,” Delhi Police said.
At 7 am, the police and fire department were also notified, and the pupils were sent home by the school administration.
In order to handle bomb threats and associated situations, the Delhi High Court earlier on November 19 ordered the Delhi Government and Delhi Police to create a thorough response plan that includes a complete Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). The Court has given these directions an eight-week deadline to be completed.
According to the Court, in order to ensure efficient coordination and successful execution, the SOP must specify the roles and duties of all parties involved, including law enforcement, school administration, and municipal authorities.
In response to a plea filed by Advocate Arpit Bhargava, the Delhi Government and Delhi Police were instructed by the bench of Justice Sanjeev Narula to develop a detailed action plan that includes a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to handle bomb threats and associated situations.
School representatives, police enforcement, local government officials, and other state departments are among the pertinent stakeholders that must be consulted throughout the development of the action plan.
