Three people were arrested after a police encounter in Haridwar’s Landhaura area

Haridwar: After a police confrontation in the Landaura neighborhood of Haridwar, three people were taken into custody on suspicion of taking part in a gunshot that claimed one life and wounded another.

The offenders, named by police as Ankush alias Ranjha, Abhishek alias Robin, and Prashant alias Sunny, were taken into custody during a late-night operation. They were found in possession of live ammunition and a country-made handgun chambered in.315 bore.

The shooting incident took place at the Manglor police station’s Landaura district when the accused assaulted Ikram and Tajim over a money disagreement. Tajim is receiving treatment in a hospital, while Ikram passed away from his wounds while being transported for treatment.

After the event, a team led by Kotwali Manglor’s Station House Officer (SHO) was assembled by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Haridwar. To find the culprits, the police searched many sites and examined CCTV video.

A motorcyclist that tried to avoid the checkpoint was discovered by police during a late-night vehicle check. The suspects started shooting at cops who attempted to stop them. Prashant, also known as Sunny, was wounded in the leg by police retaliation, and the other two ran away. The two were eventually apprehended in a sugarcane field after a pursuit.

According to the police, the people who were detained had prior attempted murder, robbery, and dacoity charges filed against them at Manglor and other police stations. Investigations are still under progress.
