The war of words between Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and BJP state chief K Annamalai has intensified
Chennai: The Bharatiya Janata Party state head K. Annamalai and Tamil Nadu Deputy head Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin’s verbal sparring heated up when the former challenged the latter to visit Anna Salai in Chennai. Leaders of the BJP and DMK have been at odds for a few days over the execution of the three-language policy and the release of state finances. The three-language strategy was endorsed by BJP State President Annamalai, who also criticized the DMK-led state administration for politicizing the matter.

At a public gathering in Karur, the BJP State President criticized Udhayanidhi Stalin over the DMK’s criticism of Prime Minister Modi, which sparked the argument. According to Udhayanidhi Stalin, if the “rights” of the states were “suppressed,” Tamil Nadu residents would chant “Go Back Modi” at PM Modi.
“They’re saying ‘get out Modi’ now, after Udhayanidhi Stalin said ‘go back Modi,'” Annamalai stated. “Get out, Modi” is what I’m telling Udhayanidhi Stalin to say if he has the courage to do so. Let’s see if you can address our global leader with it. Modi, you’re telling me to leave? I will put posters at your home when I visit. I’ll talk in your tongue. You have no idea how to show respect for international leaders. You’re a kid. The sun was in front of you. When the sun is on top, you can always see it. You are addressing the nation’s ruler, who rises at three thirty in the morning, does yoga, and governs.”
In response, Tamil Nadu DyCM Stalin urged Annamalai to visit Anna Salai and accused him of sidetracking the true problem.
“This demonstrates their (Annamalai’s) expectations. This is not surprising. The Annamalai are attempting to deflect the conversation. Without being able to interact with the Tamil Nadu people, Modi returned to the state in 2018 by demolishing barriers. Go Back Modi caused black balloons and banners to fly everywhere. Don’t change the subject,” he said.
“Please invite Annamalai to attend. I’ll simply be in the home. He has already promised to take action at the DMK headquarters in Anna Arivalayam. Kindly invite Annamalai to attend. First of all, if he is brave, invite him to see Anna Salai. His name was never utilized by me. I never do that. Udhayanidhi and the BJP State President are not at odds over this. We should request and get funding for Tamil Nadu. Please beg him to do anything that would benefit Tamil Nadu, if at all feasible,” Udhayanidhi Stalin said.
Stalin was then rebutted by BJP State President Annamalai, who said that “standard” and Udhayanidhi Stalin had nothing in common and were comparable to the North and South Poles.
“Udhayanidhi Stalin is the politician who lacks a standard. He is getting along with his father’s and grandfather’s names. Respect should be given and received. Let DMK choose the best time and day for me to see Anna Salai. I’ll be alone myself. You (DMK) attempt to stop me with all of your cadres and cops. Please stop me. On social media, they are sharing the DyCM’s statement, “Get Modi Out on Stage.” I will upload ‘Get Out Stalin’ by 6 am tomorrow. “I am difficult,” Annamalai said.
The DMK and BJP are engaged in a heated battle ahead of the 2026 elections, with disagreements on funding Tamil Nadu and linguistic policy.
